I attended 10 private lessons Bahasa Melayu with Ms Sharifah Narimah as my tutor. I had very much fun with Sharifah and did definitely improve my knowledge in Bahasa Melayu. I learned a lot during the lessons, not only the language itself, also more about the Malay culture and their habits.
Her lessons were always very much diversified and well structured and easily overviewed. I was only scared of all the tests which she every time showed up with, beginning of each lesson. ;-) But of course it was good to repeat each lesson again and to learn from the mistakes done.
In any case, she is a competent tutor and has also the motivation and patience to teach which makes you feel very comfortable. Further I appreciate her flexibility. It was easy to make appointments where ever it was best and most convenient for both of us.
To conclude, I can really recommend Ms Sharifah Narimah. However I should be in Singapore, I will certainly book her again.

To whom it may concern,
I have first known Ms Sharifah through mutual acquaintances, and had engaged Sharifah’s tuition services to prepare myself to take a professional examination on the Malay language which I am obligated to take by the Singapore civil service.
I am happy to say that I have since passed the examination, and I am writing here to say that credit should be given to Sharifah for her efforts to assist me in grasping a better understanding of the language, and for her patience in spending many a weekend in walking through with me the complexities of Malay grammar structure in a manner which makes for easier understanding.
This was something of a miracle, given that I started with zero background in Malay and was expected to reach a secondary school standard within a very short time span.
I have no qualms about recommending Sharifah to anybody who requires similar coaching in Malay, whether to take a similar examination, or for picking up conversational skills prior to moving to a Malay-only environment.
Once more, I would like to extend my thanks to Sharifah for her dedication to her students.

Mr. Sean Ho started teaching my friend and I late into my JC 2 year in ACJC. Although we did not have much time together, I could tell that my ability to handle my GP papers was increasing. Mr Ho taught me the skills to improve all aspects of my papers and it really gave me the confidence to do well. I once thought GP was a dull and boring subject just like English in secondary school. My daughter started taking English, Math & Science tuition from Mr. Mokhtar in the 2nd semester of her P5 year in 2007. He came highly recommended by a friend whose son is also Mr. Mokhtar's student. Mr. Mokhtar's approach was to understand my daughter totally: not only her problems in study but also to understand her character, way of thinking and likes and dislikes. He believes that he can help his student the best when he understands them well so as to tailor an individual learning method. Our main target was for my daughter to achieve an average result in the PSLE as we always thought she was just average in her academics. However, after Mokhtar taught my daughter for a short time, he assured us that she has a very logical mind and she could, in fact, be very good in academics. Mokhtar was very patient with her and he found the right balance to encourage her without putting too much pressure on her, especially since she has an extremely busy CCA schedule. Her PSLE results were beyond our expectations and she was able to get into our 1st school of choice. Mokhtar taught my daughter that she can succeed when she has confidence of herself and to believe in herself. He is not only a teacher but he has also become a friend of our family. I was in need of tuition badly and had no more time as my IELTS was just around the corner when I stumbled upon Mr. Mokhtar's on the internet. He was kind enough to slot me in for a few English lessons. On the first day I did not know what to expect. But with Mr. Mokhtar’s friendly nature, I felt comfortable.
Mr. Mokhtar has a wide range of knowledge about all sorts of subjects and manages to squeeze in jokes to make his lessons fun and interesting. He helped me a lot for my English essays giving me tips and correcting my mistakes. He is a patient teacher.
I took the IELTS at first without any tuition and failed but with Mr. Mokhtar’s help, I have sat for the IELTS exam a second time and passed with flying colours.

Before I became a student of Mr. Mokhtar’s, I did just enough to get by in my lower sec years. With the stakes raised, I needed to know more and a B4 would not be enough to prepare me for the ‘O’ Levels. I asked Mr. Mokhtar to be my tutor. Upon obtaining an A2 for English in the ‘N’ Levels, I experienced firsthand how Mr. Mokhtar’s methods helped put me on the right, and better track to the ‘O’ Levels in 2007. I continued with him for the final stretch, and there was no room for new errors and old habits. With thorough practice and new English study habits in my arsenal, I was ready for the ‘O’ Levels. Upon receiving my result slip a few months later, tears of joy streamed down my face as I had received an Á2 for English.
Apart from studies, Mr. Mokhtar and I converse a lot during our sessions with topics ranging from school and personal issues to politics and global events. I am comfortable in sharing my personal views with him, while he is always able to give me his honest and constructive comments. Mr. Mokhtar introduced me to reading various genres and authors of fiction. My love of reading spanned further and deeper as my choices diversified.
With secondary school behind me, I still continue my sessions with Mr. Mokhtar to keep my mind and vocabulary growing. With months before I trade my pen/keyboard for the rifle, Mr. Mokhtar helps me prepare for what lies ahead.

I learnt 10 weeks of conversational Malay with Sharifah and thoroughly enjoyed every lesson of it. Sharifah is an excellent tutor who was able to explain everything in a clear and concise manner to me. Her immense experience in teaching Malay is evident in the way she delivers the lesson smoothly and is able to clarify any doubts that I have on the spot. I liked the fact that her lessons were very structured, with every lesson revolving around a theme (e.g. food items, household items). She provided me with comprehensive notes followed by a short quiz the following week to help me keep track of my progress. I was taught various Malay phrases, which were practical and applicable to day-to-day conversation. The lessons were also very interactive and interesting, with various opportunities for me to practise what I had learnt.
